'I Wanna Be' Project

MFAA members have been working together Dudley Voices for Choice to produce a new movie entitled 'I Wanna Be'. Resouces were provided by a Community Forum grant given by Councillors for Amblecote, Cradley & Wollescote and Lye & Stourbridge North wards. The aim was to demonstrate the aspirations of adults with learning difficulties living in the Dudley area and those from surrounding districts who get support within the Borough.

During recording the film crew visited the SHINE 2015 event held at Brierley Hill Civic Hall on February 24th, 2015 and enlisted the participants from Side by Side Theatre Company to help with filming, interviewing and organisation.

The SHINE 2015 event was attended by Cllr Margaret Aston, Mayor of Dudley who also attended the premiere screening of 'I Wanna Be' held at Insight House, Brierley Hill earlier today.

MFAA members are extremely grateful to Sarah, Tina and Maurice from Dudley Voices For Choice for their work to ensure the success of the project and to all those who participated in filming.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
