Presidents Trophy Winner 2019 - Birmingham Art Circle

Congratulations to Martyn Harris, MFAA Secretary, for being this year's winner of The Presidents Trophy for Birmingham Art Circle for his oil paint portrait of Paul. The painting was mainly completed at The Art Yard gallery and studio on Reddal Hill Road, Cradley Heath and entered into this year's Birmingham Art Circle portraits exhibition.

After studying for 10 years under W R Jennings, a world-wide acclaimed oil painter, Martyn spent many years working in the field of interior design, which he left in recent years to become a full time professional artist. Martyn is fast becoming internationally recognised for his landscape, water and portrait work, a reputation well deserved.

In addition, Martyn is available for oil painting presentations and demonstrating and can be contacted via his website and Facebook pages. His portfolio includes a 1984 movie featuring Robin Jennings demonstrating landscape and water painting in oil re-edited from VHS.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
