Pilot - Art Showcase Evening success

The first Art Showcase event held on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 at The Art Yard and featuring 'Portraiture' was a fantastic success. The initial pilot was led by MFAA's professional artist and tutor Martyn Harris who was assisted by Harry Bloomer and supported by Karen Brinton.

Eleven artists showcased their work and with some delivering their first peer group presentation to an appreciative audience.

The feedback on work in progress and on finished portraits was very positive and encouraging, and participants learnt invaluable lessons about creating art portraiture from fellow artists.

MFAA look forward to gallery users getting involved in a wide variety of future art showcase events and invite artists to get in touch with TAY team with their subject ideas.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
