Experienced MFAA member Martyn Harris is leading the project that will include multi-media artworks, the spoken/written word, heritage film and music.
Anyone and everyone of all ages and abilities will be able to take part in landscape workshops and follow up studio sessions.
Martryn said, "This project will involve the wider community with people of all ages being able to take part in free landscape workshops and follow up studio sessions held at several partner sites".
24th September 2019: Arts Council England approved project funding.
The project is unrivalled across the Black Country and Birmingham in its planned connectivity to engage people and communities from surrounding areas to take part in an integrated programme of artwork. It will deliver real outcomes toward benefitting Cradley Heath's green landscapes community volunteers who give freely of their time to maintain and improve surrounding green open spaces for the benefit of the public.

Cradley Heath Green Landscapes Project
‘Call To Photographers’
As part of Cradley Heath Green Landscapes project being run by Midland Film And Art (c/o The Art Yard) you are invited to take part in a Free community sports photography workshop and follow up studio session led by Peter Lopeman. You are asked to book early as places on the team are limited.
Peter Lopeman trained, practiced and educated in fine art for many years and his images appear in national press publications. Photographing the habits and actions of people in their natural settings is what excites Peter and he is a regular exhibitor at TAY gallery. *See: https://iwitness-photography.co.uk/bio
What will the workshop consist of?
The Free workshop is a unique opportunity for photographers to expand their experience and knowledge by participating in live action sports photography.
Large sports events are often covered by a team of professional photographers working separately but each having a key role to play to ensure the event is fully recorded.
Participants will meet early at TAY before the workshop where Peter will brief them on their roll within the team.
They will use their own photographic equipment for the workshop.
Participants will visit Bearmore Playing Field, Cradley Heath, B64 6EA to shoot the match involving the home team Netherton Tigers FC.
The objective will be that participants shoot photographs on assigned areas of the pitch on rotation contributing towards the team effort to capture images of the game.
What will the studio session consist of?
The studio session will take place on the following weekend at TAY.
Participants will discuss with Peter and other participants their results and how best to edit the images to attain the finished photographs.
What will the outcomes be?
Participants will have learnt about working as part of a team to achieve results.
They will have experienced the difficulties of capturing live action shots.
Participants will have learnt more about adapting their equipment when working outdoors in varying light and weather conditions.
Participants will have the opportunity for their finished images to be selected to populate a photo album on TAY’s Facebook account and once uploaded shared through social media.
In addition, a number of images will be printed and form part of the Cradley Heath Green Landscapes collection, a public art exhibition that will be premiered at TAY and tour around Tesco Express (Cradley Heath) and Black Heath Library.
The workshop and studio session will take place on 2 successive weekends in April and/or early May 2020. Amateur league fixtures are only release for the Birmingham County Football Association on a monthly basis therefore, the workshop day and date can only be arranged at very short notice, and participants should be prepared to commit to taking part on that basis.
Booking is essential and is on a first come basis.
