This year's event was used to also celebrate the life of Richard Flatley (1956-2026). Richard was a good friend to The Art Yard and sadly died while on holiday at the beginning of the year. Richard was the major driving force behind Sandwell Networkers Group and firmly believed in community cohesion. The Art Yard held 2 successful Birmingham Open Studios weekends over Sat/Sun 26th/27th Sept and Sat/Sun 3rd/4th October 2026. The gallery team of resident artists and volunteers put on a total of 11 demonstrations, presentations and workshops covering bear making, film screening, life drawing, mixed media, needle felting, oil painting, texture painting, portraiture, pyrography, screen printing. Our residents' studios were open to the public and there was a large market place

Ove the 2 weekends, resident artists and volunteers at The Art Yard will be putting on a program of FREE workshops, demonstrations, presentations and films. No booking is required and we anticipate visitors will be exploring our arts and crafts market place as well as visiting out open studios.

Thanks to all volunteer, club & workshop exhibiters who attended today's gathering at The Art Yard gallery, B64 5HX. What a result! It was fantastic to see so many supporters of the gallery there. There were loads of nibbles, cheese, pate, choccies, bickies, focaccia bread, samosa, cakes, lots of drinks, fruit juices and even the odd glass of 'communal' wine. A large Thank You to everyone for your attended and contributed to the buffet.
