Poster competition precedes A Ewart Chapman heritage art exhibition

A unique exhibition of industrial and portrait heritage art by A Ewart Chapman will take place at The Art Yard between 19th March and 14th April 2018.

Students undertaking the Graphic Design Extended Diploma course at Halesowen College competed to design the promotional poster which was judged by Mary and Edgar Green, together with MFAA members Warren McCabe-Smith and Harry Bloomer. Mary Green is the daughter of A Ewart Chapman who founded Chapman's Electrical in Cradley Heath in 1925.

The students poster competition entries were of a very high standard, which caused the judging panel so much difficulty in deciding a winner that they eventually reached the decision that there should be both winner and runner up prizes. The winner was Dylan Ellis who receive £75. The runner up poster was created by Hannah James who won £30.

TAY Team are grateful to Maninder Pradam, student personal coach at Halesowen College, for helping to organise the students timetable to include the poster competition and the team wish to congratulate all of the students who showed great initiative in creating their designs.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
