Portraits Project a huge success

The Character Portraits Project funded by Arts Council (England) is proving to be a huge success in both Dudley and Sandwell areas. The Sandwell Herald recently acclaimed the project and the Sandwell portraits began their borough-wide tour at the annual awards celebrations for Sandwell Libraries held at West Bromwich Town Hall. Dudley CVS proudly displayed Steve Grigg's pencil portrait of Mike Abrahams at their AGM held at Brierley Hill Civic and now plan to gather the portrait sitters and artists together for a further celebration in March 2019.

Harry Bloomer who led the project for MFAA said, "The project has proved to be a wonderful vehicle for placing what the group has established at The Art Yard at the centre of art activities that involve local artist working together with the community, lifting the status of our exhibitions.'

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
