Art Student's RBSA 'Friends' Exhibition 2025

Congratulations to 18 year old art student Jack Mascarello who's painting entitled 'Monte Carlo' has gone on show at the RBSA's Friends exhibition 2025.

Jack who is a student at Halesowen College applied to become a junior volunteer at The Art Yard (TAY) in November 2023 and joined in the following June. He is an enthusiastic motor sports follower and has shown a talent for painting pictures of racing cars using acrylics.

He has been particularly encouraged by TAY volunteers Martyn Harris ARBSA and Professor Emeritus Stan Tucker to enter the 'Friends' exhibition competition and his mother Claire was overjoyed to join Jack as the Open Night on Thursday, January 9th, at the RBSA gallery.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
