CONGRATULATIONS: Martyn Harris

Winner of - The Smallwood Architects Prize for Contextual Portraiture

for his portrait entitled ‘Paul’s Emporium’.

Club Secretary and TAY resident artist Martyn Harris created the portrait of Paul Beasley sitting in his antiques and reclamation emporium surrounded by memorabilia, including a picture of Paul’s grandfather, Toby jug, washing mangle and wall mirror, among other items people will remember.

The Smallwood Architects prize is awarded for a portrait in which architecture or interior features play an important part in the narrative.

Judges look for the setting of the portrait to enhance the human subject, creating energy and a sense of place, and perhaps giving an insight into the subject’s life. Martyn’s portrait does just that!

Smallwood Architects are passionate about creating beautiful environments for their clients and are highly professional in every aspect of their work.

'Martyn'.... CONGRATULATIONS on behalf of everyone at The Art Yard and your many friends and associates.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
