Harry attends WM High Sheriff's Declaration Ceremony.

The entry into office of Wade Cleone Lyn, CBE DL CD as High Sheriff of the West Midlands 2023-24 took place at a Declaration Ceremony on Tuesday, 28th March 2023 at The Queen Elizabeth II Law Courts, Birmingham.

Harry, who has known Wade for over 50 years, attended both the ceremony and following guests’ reception held at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The role of High Sheriff is the only secular post surviving from Saxon times (c. 688 -725). The High Sheriff is the principal representative of, and agent for the Crown. During Norman and Plantagenet times the Sheriffs role became key to the emerging British justice system. These days, however, High Sheriffs play an increasingly active and supportive role within their counties both in relation to the police and emergency services, as well as the voluntary sector organisations, such as; The Art Yard.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
