Hosted by The Salvation Army Corps, Cradley Heath, the premiere took place on the evening of Tuesday, Sept 23rd with special guests Major Lisa Goble, Cllr Jackie Taylor and Cllr Vicki Smith present.

The name ‘PoArtry’ was given by our Chairman, Warren McCabe-Smith, to a 2016 event involving poets and artists.

Since then, combining the spoken word with arts and crafts has been part of The Art Yard make-up over the years.  Regular PoArtry evenings were introduced by Stan, Sandra and myself in April 2023.

So why run a Pilot Project?

Although the committee has experience of PoArtry projects few of the pilot participants had and the project was a way for others to expand their knowledge or working in collaboration with other wordsmiths, crafters, musicians and artists.

There will be an exhibition of the work completed during the project held at The Art Yard, 19-20 Upper High Street, Cradley Heath, B64 5HX for one week from 6:30pm on Monday 13th October 2025. Entry to the gallery is free.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
