Self Portrait Competition (Covid Lockdown)

Thanks to everyone who took part and to those who supported the self-portrait competition that took place between 1st Feb and 1st March 2021. Some 61 artists submitted 2D, 3D and poetry self-portraits.

Many of those taking part have said how important the challenge was in helping their mental well-being by providing a motivation to do work during lock-down.

The entries are currently exhibited digitally on this website main title page.

The Art Yard team have uploaded the self portraits into 3x albums of 2D, 3D and Poetry on our Facebook page. We are presently encouraging visitors to LIKE their favourite self portraits so that the judges can take into account the number of LIKES when reaching their decisions on competition winners to be announced on Monday, 15th March 2021.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
