Young Volunteer Bags Mr & Mrs Claus Photo

We are pleased to announce that one of The Art Yard's youngest volunteers, Kieran Mills, successfully delivered on his 1st professional commission for the Express & Star newspaper over the weekend.

His task was to take photographs of the big Christmas light 'switch-on' at Upper Gornal, Dudley. The weather couldn't have been more against him completing the task but like a well seasoned photographer Kieran stuck to the objective of photographing Mr & Mrs Clause in their sleigh and also the people who turned up to see Santa arrive.

Everyone at the gallery in Cradley Heath is so proud of Kieran who is a level 3 photography student at Halesowen College and is planning to continue his studies at university.

We are also grateful to Isabelle Parkin who wrote the newspaper article for the Express & Star featuring the photographs.

Kieran was mentored at the event by TAY resident artist and professional photographer Peter Loperman.

Midland Film and Art

Midland Film and Art is a membership club where people can enjoy screenings of films or view artwork and crafts that would otherwise not be shown in mainstream cinemas or exhibitions, or be available locally. These shows usually have an educational aim, introducing new audiences to different audiovisual works through screening and display, encouraging participation in arts and crafts. A common feature that may characterize a Midland Film and Art meeting is that they either begin with an introduction to the audience and/or end with the promotion of a discussion about the film/art, where assistants, organizers and sometimes the filmmakers/artists themselves, exchange their views.
